The Finnish gambling agency, Veikkaus, is conducting an inquiry into roughly eight hundred dubious login endeavors to its digital platforms last month.
Veikkaus asserts that its data systems were not compromised by these login attempts and no irregularities were detected in any user accounts.
These login attempts are thought to be the outcome of software assailants employing software tools to guess customer usernames and passwords, successfully gaining access to Veikkaus’s services.
Consequently, the attackers may have accessed eight hundred customer gaming accounts, and some of these accounts were locked due to incorrect login attempts.
However, Veikkaus reports that no suspicious gaming activity was observed on the compromised accounts.
Local law enforcement has been involved in the investigation, and customers who may have been impacted by the information threat have been informed and asked to modify their passwords.
Moreover, Veikkaus stresses that hackers were unable to transfer funds from accounts due to the implementation of authentication measures.
“Considering the nature of the attack, we believe the risk of misuse of relevant gaming accounts and personal data is minimal,” stated Hanna Kirki, Veikkaus’s Director of Legal and Corporate Responsibility.
Thus far, we haven’t noticed any unusual activity with the gaming accounts that were compromised. Naturally, we’ll continue to monitor the situation closely.
Last week, Veikkaus, Finland’s national lottery organization, initiated discussions with 830 of their employees regarding the potential reduction of 200 positions.
