Maryland on the Verge of Legalizing Sports Wagering

The state of Maryland is on the verge of legalizing sports wagering! The state’s legislative body has just approved a measure that will permit residents to place bets on athletic events. This legislation will now be sent to Governor Larry Hogan for his approval.

The proposal was introduced by Senator Craig Zucker and received approval from both the lower and upper chambers of the legislature. The lower house made some modifications to the bill before passing it, but the upper house accepted these alterations.

This legislation will now be put before the state’s electorate in a statewide referendum, where voters will determine whether they wish to authorize sports betting in Maryland. The question posed on the ballot will be: “Do you want to permit sports wagering in Maryland to generate funds for education?”
