Nevadas gaming halls struck gold in June, amassing an impressive $1.27 billion in earnings, with baccarat standing out as the top earner. This signifies the sixteenth straight month that the Silver State has exceeded the $1 billion threshold, cementing its position as the gambling hub of the USA, particularly as Macau, its Asian equivalent, encounters challenges.
Baccarat took center stage, witnessing an astounding 237% upsurge in earnings compared to the prior year, hitting a remarkable $1.432 billion. Other games also joined the party. Card games observed an 83% leap to $46.3 million, Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em pulled in a decent 22% rise at $14 million, and alternative slot varieties enjoyed a robust 22% climb, reaching $10.8 million. Nevertheless, it wasn’t all smooth sailing; penny, nickel, and dollar slot machines encountered a minor decline in earnings.
Sports wagering presented a mixed bag. Although football underperformed, resulting in a $13 million setback for Vegas, other sports compensated, positively contributing to Nevada’s total gaming revenue.
This surge of prosperity in Nevada is a positive sign for US gaming corporations preparing to unveil their second-quarter profits. While the general industry trajectory appears to be towards stable or slightly reduced revenue – Boyd Gaming, for example, announced a marginal 0.1% increase – there’s a bright spot. As Keith Smith, Boyd Gaming’s CEO, highlighted, the previous year’s numbers were exceptionally high due to pent-up demand following the pandemic limitations and government stimulus payments. Therefore, although the expansion might appear moderate, the industry is still enjoying a wave of triumph.
Kambi experienced a 16% rise in income beyond the United States (excluding losses incurred from DraftKings), yet their total revenue endured a 19% decline this previous quarter. Conversely, Evolution is reveling in a 34% surge in revenue. Their Chief Executive Officer, Martin Carlesund, deemed it “satisfactory” but believes they possess the potential to achieve even greater heights.
