Crown Sydney CEO Exits Amid Blackstone Reshuffle

Simon McGrath, Chief Executive Officer of Crown Sydney, will be leaving his position. This follows a brief period in the role, as he was only installed late last year. His exit is one piece of a broader reorganization as the firm’s new proprietor, Blackstone Group, aims to revamp operations.

Blackstone, which concluded its purchase of Crown Resorts in June, is anticipated to designate McGrath’s replacement “soon.” Speculation suggests they may select an individual from Macau, maintaining the pattern established by the recent selection of Ciarán Carruthers, previously of Wynn Macau, as the leader of Crown Resorts.

Although the company conveyed appreciation for McGrath’s efforts, especially the latest inauguration of the high-roller casino, his exit creates another crucial vacancy – the director of the hotel division.

Prior to stepping down, ex-chief executive Steve McCann gave his thoughts on the Blackstone purchase: “The investment and knowledge from Blackstone will aid in cementing Crown Resorts’ place as a top international proprietor and manager of combined resort properties.”
