The Australian Media and Communications Authority (ACMA) has issued its initial official caution to a provider, Proxous Advanced Solutions.
The regulatory body discovered that thirteen internet-based casinos operating illicitly within Australia were utilizing the company’s Realtime Gaming (RTG) branded platform. The ACMA ascertained that Proxous intentionally furnished access to their software for these casinos, a direct transgression of Australia’s 2001 Interactive Gambling Act.
Prior inquiries by the ACMA had already validated that all thirteen operators were unlawfully offering services to Australians. These operators encompass recognizable names such as Fair Go Casino, Two Up Casino, and BoVegas, alongside others like Free Spin, Uptown Pokies, Uptown Aces, Red Dog Casino, Slots Empire, Cherry Gold Casino, Play Croco, Aussie Play, Ozwin Casino, and Reels Of Joy.
The ACMA stressed that these operators depended significantly on Proxous’ software to operate their online casino activities. Consequently, the ACMA has implemented measures to obstruct all of these operators.
Since the ACMA commenced enforcing stricter regulations against unlawful offshore gambling in 2017, over 170 comparable services have ceased operations in Australia.
The ACMA reminds users that the mere appearance of legitimacy of an online gambling site does not guarantee the presence of essential consumer safeguards that a licensed service would provide.
