To safeguard Australians from illicit wagering, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is taking strong action against websites violating regulations. They have already instructed internet service providers to restrict access to numerous suspicious sites, encompassing prominent ones such as Jogi Casino and Lucky Hunter.
These unauthorized platforms provide online casinos, slot machines, and other gambling activities without the necessary Australian permits. Essentially, if these operations are not permitted to function within Australia, the ACMA aims to cease their activities. They are also pursuing entities promoting these unlawful services.
This initiative forms part of a broader endeavor to eliminate illegal gambling in Australia. The ACMA has been diligently addressing this issue since 2019 and remains resolute in its efforts, particularly with significant events like the Women’s World Cup taking place.
In March of this year, the Australian regulatory body, the ACMA, took steps against a group of internet gaming businesses discovered to be in breach of the 2001 Interactive Gambling Act. Well-known entities such as Lucky 7, 50 Crowns, and ZotaBet were included in those facing consequences. This enforcement action comes on the heels of prior cautions given to other operators like Crazy Enterprises (JokaRoom), Paloma Media (Thunderbolt Casino), and Dama and Friolion (Betty’s Casino). The ACMA appears to be committed to upholding online gambling rules and regulations.
